Odette has shared her experience with Drano Crystals, and how she used them to remove a grease clog in her kitchen sink.Odette says:One Sunday after a fried chicken dinner my youngest son accidentally poured a pan of grease down the drain. After that it became increasingly stopped up no matter what kind of drain cleaner that I used. google_ad_client=\"pub-2194995392836201\";google_ad_slot=\"7096547789\";google_ad_width=336;google_ad_height=280;I tried liquid after liquid, and foam after foam. I had tried everything and couldn't find a single formula of drain cleaner that would work on my stopped up kitchen sink. I was at my breaking point and very close to calling a plumber. Then, one day I found the Drano Professional Strength Kitchen Crystals online and ran to the grocery store to get them. I got home and hoped and hoped that they would work on my poor old sink. Well, my drain was completely clear in just minutes! This stuff works wonders! I definitely recommend this product for any greasy stopped up sink.It works lightning fast and it is also easier to handle than a liquid. You just pour the crystals down the drain, no liquid mess!amzn_assoc_placement=\"adunit0\";amzn_assoc_search_bar=\"true\";amzn_assoc_tracking_id=\"stainremoval101-20\";amzn_assoc_ad_mode=\"manual\";amzn_assoc_ad_type=\"smart\";amzn_assoc_marketplace=\"amazon\";amzn_assoc_region=\"US\";amzn_assoc_title=\"Drano Products {Referral Links}\";amzn_assoc_debug=\"false\";amzn_assoc_ead=\"0\";amzn_assoc_linkid=\"daf2d3f29839387f70befdedf437e4ff\";amzn_assoc_asins=\"B00MV8MWEQ,B000QRCQEK,B006K3QTYC,B003TS2R1A\";Taylor says:Thanks Odette for sharing your Drano Crystals review.I think this is a great idea for a product, because kitchen clogs are often very different in nature from bathroom clogs because of the substance which caused the clog in the first place.Once you sent in this review I did a bit more research on this product, and there was one thing google_ad_client=\"pub-2194995392836201\";google_ad_slot=\"9371534767\";google_ad_width=250;google_ad_height=250;I really liked about it, at least from the advertising. What I liked is that one container is supposed to last for many uses. Unlike most drain cleaners that you are supposed to use the entire bottle, or at least half a bottle per clog, and sometimes use repeatedly on the same clog, meaning multiple bottles, this one advertises that it lasts 17 uses right on the container. (I would love to hear from others who have used this to say whether it really lasts that long or not.)Further, I know people are always concerned what types of pipes it is safe to use on. I looked, and this one is advertised as safe for all types of pipes, septic systems and cesspools. However, make sure you do NOT use this product if your kitchen sink has a garbage disposal in it. The product makes it very clear that it is not safe to use with a garbage disposal.Like I said before, I would love to hear from others who have used this product to share how it has worked for you. I've got a bathroom vanity that has double sinks, each has a p-trap, but after that, both are combined to a single drain behind the sheet rock. Perhaps once or twice a year, both clog at the same time. I've removed both traps and tried to snake into the wall, past the removed traps, but the angle headed downhill, under the house, is just too acute. I then go under the house, with a 25' snake, and still can't get anything loose either above or below towards the sewer or cleanout. I'm never quite sure where the clog is, but I've always believed it's just beyond both traps, in the wall where they both join.
Somewhere a long time ago I bought a sink trap with an o-ring gasketed trap door at the bottom. I keep a rubbermaid container under it in case it leaks, but it never has. Unfortunately the kitchen sink clog happens a considerable distance away, requiring shoving a garden hose down the cleanout and turning the water on all the way. So far, so good.
Show Quoted Text ZEP commercial Crystal Heat drain opener crystals are very similar and work the same way and are inexpensive. Comes in a 2 lb plastic cannister. I purchased mine a few years ago at my neighborhood HD and only need to use it about 2-3/yr.
This might be a good product. But without concentration or recommended 'dose', it risks overuse (I'm sure that's why the information is missing, too. I've used drano crystals for years and i know the amounts were in tbs or tsp, ml or g. I'm a chemist, and this schocky lack of info annoys me

There is some debate over the effectiveness of drain cleaners. A 2006 Consumer Report concluded that Crystal drain cleaners like Roebic Crystal Drain Opener are the strongest of all store bought chemical varieties. Liquid, gel, and foam drain cleaners tested less effective than crystals, but none the less were successful in clearing small-medium clogs.
Iodine crystals, which are used legally for a variety of commercial andmedical purposes, frequently are used illegally to produce high qualityd-methamphetamine. The following ephedrine/pseudoephedrine reduction methodutilizes iodine in the production process.
The federal government regulates the sale of iodine crystals, which arereadily available for legitimate uses. However, it is illegal to import, export, purchase, or sell iodine crystals in the United States if they are used orintended to be used in the production of methamphetamine. Typicallymethamphetamine producers acquire iodine crystals through theft or diversion, from Mexican criminal groups that smuggle iodine into the United States acrossthe U.S.-Mexico border, or by purchasing and crystallizing iodine tincture, thesale of which is not regulated in most U.S. states.
Methamphetamine producers use iodine crystals to produce hydriodic acid, thepreferred reagent in the ephedrine/pseudoephedrine reduction method ofd-methamphetamine production. A reagent is a chemical used in reactions toconvert a precursor into a finished product. The reagent does not become part ofthe finished product. The regulation of hydriodic acid by the Drug EnforcementAdministration (DEA) in 1993 rendered the chemical virtually unavailable in theUnited States.
Hydriodic acid can be produced by combining iodine crystals with water andsome form of phosphorus, including red phosphorus, hypophosphorous acid, orphosphorous acid. In the methamphetamine production process, iodine crystals maybe used to prepare hydriodic acid in a separate step or may be introduceddirectly into the synthesis of the methamphetamine.
Small-scale methamphetamine producers who are unable to obtain iodinecrystals occasionally produce them from iodine tincture by mixing iodinetincture with hydrogen peroxide. This is a time-consuming process that yields avery small amount of iodine crystals in relation to the amount of tincture andhydrogen peroxide used.
Iodine crystals may be purchased from a variety of businesses. Crystalstypically are available for sale at chemical supply stores, feed and tackstores, and veterinary clinics and suppliers. Iodine also is widely available onthe Internet. One online pharmacy, for example, sells iodine crystals in ouncequantities for approximately $14. One pound of iodine crystals retails forapproximately $160. A rancher with a large farm typically may use up to 2 ouncesto treat a herd in 1 year. A methamphetamine producer, on the other hand, mayuse 2 to 4 pounds to produce 1 pound of methamphetamine.
Companies in several countries throughout the world produce and sell iodinecrystals commercially. Chilean companies were the world's largest producers ofiodine in 2000, followed by Japanese and U.S. companies. Overall, worldwideiodine production increased from 13,726 tons in 1994 to 18,993 tons in 2000.Iodine crystal producers sell the chemical to companies that either use iodinein manufacturing processes or sell it wholesale.
The Comprehensive Methamphetamine Control Act of 1996 identifies iodine as aList II chemical. DEA mandates that detailed records be kept for sales of iodinecrystals that exceed the threshold of 0.4 kilogram established in 2000. Anyonewho sells a total of 0.4 kilogram (13.98 ounces) of iodine crystals to anindividual, corporation, business, or other legal entity in a 2-month periodmust obtain data identifying the purchaser, keep records of the transactions for2 years, and report any suspicious transactions to DEA. This rule does not applyto iodine tinctures or other iodine mixtures. 59ce067264
